Education Venture Fund

Came across NewSchools Venture Fund, a fund focused on promoting Public Education. It was created by social entrepreneur Kim Smith and venture capitalists John Doerr and Brook Byers (from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers). They have had successfully raised three funds so far since 1998, totalling more than $ 100 mn and have supported a lot of profit and non-profit institutions focussing on providing Education for all. Its investors include both instutions (such as Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Goldman Sachs Foundation) and many esteemed individuals.

They would actively invest in various knds of institutions including Charter Management Organizations, School Support Orgs, Tools and Human Capital. To quote their website:

A very interesting piece of work! Unfortunately they have restricted themselves to US alone till now.
