How to Open a School in India - Part I

I thought it'll be a good idea to kick start this blog by having a post on "How to open a School in India". Thought so, because quite frankly I had no clue about how one goes about it.

So with that in mind, I started researching on it a few days back. To be honest, its been quite a challenge. A few days and some readings later, what I do realize is that it's easier said than done.

I couldn't really find a single resource from government bodies on the process. I found a paper on CCS website by Mayank Wadhwa - "License to Open a School: Its All about the Money" Frankly this to me seems like the best resource on the web on the school opening process. Of course the paper is slightly dated (It was written in 2001), and few things have changed since then - notably being the abolition of "Essentiality Certificate" by Delhi Govt in early 2006. There might have been other changes too. Incidentally, Mayank happens to be my batchmate from my MBA days - Small World :). He had written this piece when he was doing his graduation from Delhi University

Also different states have different clearances and processes for doing the same. Will continue to dig more and try and post them in coming days.

Please do. You are right. There are no resources to get started. Lets make this post to get that information set up for everyone. I don't mind devoting time on this. thanks, Pankaj pankaj.varma@gmail.com
